What is the goal?
Define the intended use, timing, payment preference, and expected period in the home.
A proprietary or “jumbo” reverse mortgage may be worth evaluating when a homeowner wants to access equity from a higher-value property. It should still be compared with a HECM, a HELOC, conventional financing, selling, downsizing, and using other assets.

The right structure depends on what the homeowner is trying to accomplish: improve monthly cash flow, establish a reserve, fund a major need, remain in the home, or coordinate housing wealth with other retirement resources.
Define the intended use, timing, payment preference, and expected period in the home.
Compare costs, flexibility, available proceeds, future loan balance, and alternatives.
Include family members and professional advisors when the homeowner wants a coordinated decision.

Troy helps homeowners and families understand reverse mortgage options and, with the client’s permission, coordinates the mortgage analysis with financial, legal, tax, and other professional advisors. He does not provide legal, tax, or investment advice.
